Bakomatic can be licensed to create participatory media sites on your domain at a low cost per site for a period of three years. Unlike many of our competitors, we do not charge an annual fee. Compare the cost per site of licensing Bakomatic to a monthly fee for a set number of years, or building or modifying your own application, and you will see that Bakomatic is extremely competitive.
Licensing is currently limited to newspapers, with the price varying based on your newspaper's circulation and the total number of sites you are allowed to create for each newspaper or DMA. Q:
Do you provide hosting and ongoing support?
A: We do not provide any hosting
or support as part of an enterprise license agreement. We may refer you to companies
that can provide such services as available. Basic documentation, and a set number
of hours for installation and setup, are provided for new customers. Please contact
us for more information.
Q: We want to start small. Can we upgrade
our site license in the future?
A: Yes, you can start at one level
and move up incrementally as your needs increase. We can also create a custom
quote for you if you want to purchase a site license for a number of sites that
falls in-between the tiers above. This is calculated by taking the price per site
at the previous tier and multiplying it by the number of sites you wish you create.

Q: Are we allowed
to modify the source code?
A: Bakomatic has a wide variety of built-in
customization that you can leverage as part of your license. We also offer the
ability to customize the source code for a one-time fee of 30% of the base license
fee for each site.
Q: Does a license include future upgrades?
A:
Minor upgrades to the core platform may be made available to existing licensees for download for no
additional fee that address common problems or requests. Major upgrades and modules may be
purchased when available for an additional fee.
Q: Can we pay you to
customize Bakomatic for us?
A: We are not customizing for clients at this
time. However, you may customize it on your own by purchasing the right to modify
the source code.
Q: Can you refer us to companies that can provide customization,
hosting and other services?
A: Yes. Please contact
us for more information.
Q: Can my company use Bakomatic if it is
not a newspaper?
A: We do not currently have a licensing program for non-newspaper
companies, but we are talking to a few and may introduce future licensing programs
based on market demand. Please contact us and let
us know more about your organization and how you would like to use Bakomatic.
If we expand our licensing program, we will post the information on this site
and also follow up with you individually.
Q: Can my company resell Bakomatic?
A:
Reselling is not part of the license and is prohibited. We may consider allowing
some parties to resell and host Bakomatic in the future based on market need.
